Tell us a bit about yourself
Hi, I’m Sharon Turner.
I have always drawn and played around with art. I only have one regret in my life and was not doing my art A-Level. However, 2 years ago, one of my sons wanted to start a business and convinced me to draw greeting cards. The more I draw, the more confident I have become. My first language is pictures. I live in an extremely visual world where I see images before I think of the word. My inspiration is nature. I feel at home in nature so using this in my own drawings and paintings makes me feel content. I also love children’s illustrations and anime. This influence can be seen in some of the greeting cards I design.
What type of craft do you specialise in?
Hand drawn and handmade stationery and fine art prints.
Describe your creations:
The color combinations and the tactile nature of my work are essential elements. The paper itself holds as much importance as the drawing. I use a mix of hand drawing, painting, and digital art techniques, combining them to create a unique expression. All materials used in my work are sustainable, compostable, and vegan.
What would you like to share with our audience?
I would like to share techniques, being a sustainable designer/artist and how to foster a circular economy as well as the challenges of gaining confidence to be more public with art. I am also happy to talk about my influences.
