Tell us a bit about yourself

Hi, I’m Jodie.

I started ceramics a few years ago and have not stopped since! But design and craft if not a recent thing - I trained at the Royal College of Art as a furniture designer (ask me about the golden tassel scandal, it involves Emma Freud).
I love designing ceramic pieces that are not quite what they are supposed to be - cactii that are abstract, bowls with slots stitched with rubber tube, platters folded like origami.

What type of craft do you specialise in?

Ceramics.

Describe your creations:

I strive to make them visually interesting and not what is expected! I use mainly clay, but like to sometimes add in other materials, like embroidery thread, to create visual texture.

What would you like to share with our audience?

Working with clay is the challenge! It has a memory, it can be temperamental, and you can work on something for hours and hours and it can emerge from the kiln in several pieces! It continually gives me a lesson in creative patience.
