The importance of quality web design
The importance of quality web design is inarguable. Indeed, a website which is captures attention and disseminates information clearly and concisely helps to create a lasting first impression. This, coupled with quality video content is integral to developing a sense of trust and credibility with prospective clients.
The benefits of having a website which is designed well are wide-ranging. For instance, a clear menu at the top of a website can often make it easier for people to navigate. This in turn enhances the user experience. Text which is easily readable also assists with this and can ensure that visitors to your website stay for extended periods of time. This can signal to search engines that your content is valuable and therefore can help a website rank well in search engine results pages. Fast loading times and a well-structured layout can also help with this.
According to recent data, up to 64% of searches on the internet are done using mobile phones. Given this fact, it is critical that a well-designed website is also able to adapt to the different screen sizes seen on phones and tablets. Websites designed with this in mind are often referred to as “responsive” and ensure that sites are easy to navigate on different devices.
In my opinion, the best designed websites are both informative and entertaining. The extent to which this is true varies depending on product of service you’re attempting to sell; however, I think it’s important to keep visitors engaged with content that is interesting. Typically, video content is more successful on social media that either pictures, infographics, GIFs or memes. Indeed, content shot in this way receives the most views, comments and likes. I’m a huge advocate for video content on websites and I think that all websites should include some. Videos shot for business can be very personable, especially if they include employees or ever the business owners. This often enhances credibility and makes a business appear more trustworthy. Featuring reviews form previous customers is also a fantastic way to do this. Ideally, these should include both the first and second name of the reviewee and picture of them.
Ultimately, whilst the design of a website is important it’s equally important not to forget that the primary function of a website, in business, is to assist with sales. Creating a call-to-action button is a fantastic way to encourage people browsing your site to take a specific action. The button should be placed strategically in a way that prompts a response and guides them towards taking a specific action. I’d also recommend including of contact forms and placing phone numbers and email addresses in prominent locations. Finally, I think that it’s also great to include links to social media profiles in both the header and footer sections.
In conclusion, it’s clear that in a digital age a well-designed website is imperative. Ideally, this site should be responsive and capable of adapting to different devices and engaging to ensure that visitors use it repeatedly. Incorporating video content is also a must! Finally, whist an aesthetically pleasing website is preferable, it’s important not to forget to prompt users when necessary. A clear call to action or the presence of a contact form is a fantastic way to do this.
